Project objective

Development of six efficient in vitro propagation technologies for medicinal and aromatic plant species of economic importance (Thymus citriodorus, Plectranthus amboinicus, Stevia rebaudiana, Hypericum sp., Mentha sp., Ocimum sp.)

Estimated results

– Studies on medicinal and aromatic plants in vitro regeneration;
–Technological sequences regarding the culture initiation, in vitro multiplication of microshoots, and rooting of in vitro regenerated microshoots;
– Studiesregarding the use of bioreactors for in vitro propagation and biomass production of medicinal and aromatic plants;
–Studies regarding the acclimatization of in vitro regenerated medicinal and aromatic plants;

– Technological sequences regarding the vitroplants acclimatization to ex vitro conditions;

– Studies on the genetic uniformity of in vitro regenerated plants with the mother plants;
– Comparative studies regarding the synthesis of biochemical compounds in in vitro and ex vitro plants;
– Improved in vitro propagation technologies for medicinal and aromatic plant species of economic importance;
–  Obtaining the viruses and diseases free plants;
– Scientific articles published in BDI/ISI indexed journals;
– Brochure containing a description of the developed technologies;
– Workshop to popularize the results of research carried out within the project;
