Developing a national digital platform of grapevine genetic resources in Romania, in order to conserve, manage and capitalize the germplasm for future generations

Project objective

Protecting, managing and capitalizing the grapevine genetic resources by creating a national digital platform of grapevine genetic resources, viewed as a national treasure and a tool for protecting and capitalizing the biodiversity, with permanent applicability.

 Expected results

• permanently managed by the curators of germplasm collections, publicly available;
• Elucidation of synonyms, homonyms of grapevine accessions through molecular biology methods;
• Establishing description sheets for grapevine accessions based on standardized descriptors, with the assessment of their scientific and economic importance and the risk of their extinction degree
• Development of methods and tools for monitoring the long-term conservation of viticultural germplasm sources;
• Communication and dissemination of results (scientific articles, round table).
